On February 28, 2024, Language Institute team led by most venerable Associate Professor Dr. PhrakhrupariyatratanaKhunpundit, Ven. Dr. Phramaha Santi Dhirabhdo, Dr. Roongroj Siriphan, and Assistant Professor Dr. Jutharat Compeerapap, reported the results of the institute’s operations for the past five years at the university council meeting. The key points are as follows:
1. A budget of 10 million baht has been allocated for the relocation to a new facility of Language Institute.
2. Renovation of the new institute office building has been delayed due to the university’s budget constraints in the construction category.
3. The construction of the new institute office building is located on the second floor of the international library building. It will consist of offices, media rooms, classrooms, computer rooms, and various communication rooms beneficial for teaching and learning.
4. The proportion of institute utilization at the university is 80% staff and 20% for external personnel, due to less participation in the MCU GET test.
5. The Ministry of Higher Education has designated language institute as a key unit for academic services, which can generate its own income for the institute itself.
6. Language Institute was established when university administrators visited Sri Lanka to for an excursion trip with a vision to enhance the skills of personnel and students by offering academic services to everyone inside and outside the university who wants to learn.
7. The purpose of enhancing university’s personnel was due to the Vesak Celebration held in MCU, utilizing university staff as the main workforce. Furthermore, personnel were sent to the United Kingdom for the enhancing English language skills.
8. Language Institute can sustain itself with institutional funds.
9. Future development should align with ministry proportions, such as English proficiency enhancement through MCU GET test, to elevate their capabilities to an international level, involving relevant organizations such as the ASEAN Studies Centre, International Buddhist Studies College, and the Dhammaduta College.
10. Language Institute must develop both institutional and external personnel through clear course offerings.
11. By relocating the Language Institute to the international library, we aim to integrate language into daily life, similar to practicing of Vipassana meditation regularly.
12. The current societal trend of increased internet media presence is a significant advantage in personnel development.
13. Language Institute should serve as a way of life more than just an existing entity, incorporating activities, seminars, and increasing international participation.
14. Currently, Language Institute has created LINE group to communicate in English and motivate them to enhance their language proficiency at the university.
15. Language institute should create clearer learning resources, educational environments, and atmospheres for education.
